Apparently I'm not the only one obsessed with birds and nests right now. Audette and Mayce spent a good part of Saturday Building bird nests in our yard. They built about 20 nests using leaves, weeds, sticks, grass and mud. We now have nests everywhere. On fence posts, in flowers beds, in bushes and trees, in buckets and flower pots! Our girls are so creative!

{ spring project # 6 }

Here's another spring project! 

I'm crazy about birds and nests this time of  year, thus this project:

For this project I put sheet music in an old frame and then glued a birds nest from the dollar store in. The nest already had the eggs in it, but I added the pearls. Then I also added a flag,  I'm also crazy about flags right now too! Whimsical and fun!

I'm taking a quick break from spring projects today to show you some photos of our pretty Jillian. Our friend Jessie Crowley at August light photography took these photos. She is amazing! I am so grateful for friends with great cameras and great picture taking abilities since my camera has been on the fritz since Jillian was born!

Counter top decoration

Here's what I have on my island right now for spring. Changing small parts of your decor to match the season is a great way to always make your house fresh!

I did'nt go out and buy any of this stuff just for this display, 

I just pulled things from around my house that said spring to me:

*the birds nest I keep in the living room

* kitchen scale

* flower frog with a small banner I printed

*moss ball from the book shelf

*silver candy dish from the cupboard

*ceramic bird from the book shelf

*large jar filled with old hardware

* old yellow linen

See what you can pull from around your house today to make a "spot" that says spring!

{ spring project # 4 }

Lettuce Stamp Project

I saw this project on pintrest awhile back and decided to give it a whirl. It turned out really cute! 

You cut off the bottom of a veggie like: leaf lettuce, nampa cabbage or kale and use the bottom that you would throw away or compost as a stamp! It looks a lot like a cabbage rose when stamped on paper.

First dry the end of your veggie. Then brush with acrylic paint and stamp on your project. I stamped on white cardstock to make greeting cards.

 You can stamp with one color then rinse and dry the stamp to switch colors. I used 4 different colors with my stamp.

 First I stamped all my cards, let them dry, then decorated them with glitter, paper and paper tape!

{ spring project #3 }

I've been looking for matching baskets for jillian's changing table since before she was born, but I didn't have very much money to spend on them. Everything I've found so far was $5 to $10 a basket, I need 6. Then last week at the dollar store, I totally scored! The dollar store had all these cute laundry baskets in lots of springy colors. And, obviously they were $1 each! Yeah! So here's what I did with them.

 And I used 2 in the girl's bathroom to organize their sheet and pillow cases! Just yet another reason why I LOVE the dollar store, they are constantly helping me stretch a buck!

{ spring project #2 }

My friend Jen and I got together recently and each made a framed Happy Spring Sign,

inspired by some we found on pintrest. Here's mine....I LOVE it. It's a bright reminder spring is on the way!

I used an old frame from a second hand and spray painted it blue.

Next I stapled wire on the back .

 I cut out tags and decorated each of them with scrapbook supplies. And.... then hung them from the wire with my new current obsession, mini clothes pins. They are just about the cutest thing i've seen.

{ spring jacket make-over }

I decided this week to will spring to come by doing several spring projects...so, here is the first of a few. I did a quick make-over the girls and i's jean jackets.  Here is the before: plain old jean jackets.....

And now, the springy after:

This one is Audette's. 

I cut off the bottom of all the jackets to add a ruffle, Then I added fabric flowers to each.

{ what's one more? }

Yes, that's what we said last weekend....what's one more baby around here? We already have a LOT! So....what's one more? This is the very newest addition to the farm, alyssa, our black angus bottle fed calf. She is two days old in these pictures. She's very sweet. She already knows and trusts us as her mom. She followed Buck in the house today, I think she would stay in if let her. The girls are of course CRAZY about her! Since she's a heifer, we will always keep her and breed her each year for a calf. 

{ jillian's 2nd week }

We can not believe Jillian is already two weeks old! These first two weeks have flown by! Here is our pretty girl....who already weights 8 lbs. 3oz. She is having no trouble in the eating department!

Miss Jilly is a VERY good Baby! I know were a little bias...but she is so stinkin' cute too!

WOW! It was a long day for her....It's hard being a baby.......as you can see!
